A pretty good take, an AI recipe for disaster, and in the “uniquely unfit” department…
There’s an Islander 36 for sale that appears to be a très bonne affaire and I spent part of my sleepless night considering just how such a deal exists.
Most advice where cheap boats are concerned has to do the condition of said boat, while I tend to think more on the psychology behind the sale.
The backstory is all important and, for a successful DIY project, it’s often more important to know the why rather than the actual condition. Fixing boats is easy but overcoming outside issues is another thing entirely.
Issues that can derail a fit out are many and varied. The obvious ones, like money and time, are simple equations that anyone can do. On the other hand, psychic energy, internal motivation, and stressful working conditions are a very different can of worms.
So, the big question is always why and will you be able to overcome whatever reasons led to this boat being sold so cheaply.
Anyway, just something to think about…
