Something about Amtrak, a very good point, and Elie Mystal saying the needful…
This brought a smile…
However, it did get me thinking about how it’s well past time to see some sort of ground swell against Elon Musk’s other business, Starlink.
Sure, I see how a lot of cruisers feel that it’s very important to be able to watch YouTube videos of Family Feud while crossing oceans. I mean, we all love Steve Harvey… right? I’d feel somewhat guilty watching Steve do his thing if it meant supporting a business whose owner is part and parcel of the ongoing coup against the democracy I’m a citizen of.
I mean, supporting Musk and his business interests sure feels a whole lot like collaboration…
Last I heard, being a collaborator is a serious faux pas. If you don’t think so, you might want to check out what happened after WW2. You might also want to look up the word “Quisling” for good measure.
I’m sure that online addicts will argue that it’s all about their safety while cruising that is oh so important. It’s not the fact they love keeping up with the current state of affairs on “Jeopardy” while on night watch, but they need to keep in contact 24/7 for safety reasons. Sure, whatever works for you.
There are a couple of excellent posts about cruising with Starlink you might want to check out here and here. As it happens, Panbo has an excellent post about the ever-changing Starlink plans that is well worth reading.
As it happens, our business is internet based and not using Starlink might actually cost us money in the grand scheme of things. Which I can live with. I can’t live with supporting someone like Musk. Plus, at the rate folks are fucking up Teslas, I’d be real nervous about showing that Starlink antenna out there where all can see it.
