A letter of note, just another maga guy, and in the “not dead yet” department…
I keep waffling on how I’m going to do our dodger on the Islander. No matter what I come up with, nothing seems to make me happy. On the other hand, I’m in no hurry to build a new dodger until the right idea surfaces. The bottom line is that while a dodger would be nice, we don’t actually require one for our near future cruising plans. So, I’m content waiting for an inspired simple solution to reveal itself.
There is always going to be a simple, affordable solution to all problems where boats are concerned. The downside is they’re mostly outside the box and often require a bit of lateral thinking to get to them.
My better half this morning, showed me a hard dodger someone had built that looked kind of neat. Close up it looked good until you saw it from a distance where it did not quite flow with the boats lines. Lopping off six inches in height would go a long way to improve the situation but I lost interest when I realized that the dodger in question cost $14K.
For those readers who are interested in my working budget for our dodger it amounts to $200 or hopefully less** . How you can inflate that budget to $14K is, for me at least, a real conundrum. It tells me I’m sure in the wrong business.
Today’s project is sorting out a pump problem in the head which may not be the pump at all. While I’m sure there is a simple solution to the problem, I’d bet money that it’s going to be a WTF issue I’m dealing with…
Boats are funny that way.
