EBM with a solid point, another Fiji mermaid, and where news and AI meet…
I’ve always been a fan of Practical Sailor magazine and, while I had a few issues with the publication, it was the best place to find mostly unbiased information on various boat products and systems. The key to their success was that they were not beholden to advertising revenue to do their job and, for the most part, they did their job well.
Sadly, the current Practical Sailor is no longer the powerhouse that they used to be. After decades of subscribing, I let my subscription lapse and will not resubscribe until they get back to doing the job they used to do.
Bummer.
As long as I’m sorta/kinda on the subject, it might be a good time to reflect on YouTube reviews of boat gear and suchlike. In my experience, no one gives a bad review to someone who gives them something that’s shiny and expensive. Just like no one gives a bad review in a magazine to someone who is having their product “reviewed” and taking out full pages of advertising.
Just sayin’
